About Reef Network

Sourced saltwater aquarium information

There is no shortage of saltwater aquarium information, but the answers to one question rarely agree. That is why Reef Network brings a sourced species encyclopedia, step by step guides and equipment articles together in one place. Read before you buy a species, compare the options, and see where each answer came from. Create an account

Why Do We Exist?

Most mistakes in a saltwater aquarium come from conflicting information rather than missing information. One source recommends medium light for a coral, another recommends high light. A forum thread calls a fish peaceful, a sales page calls the same fish aggressive. The reader cannot tell which one to trust, and the animal in the aquarium usually pays for the wrong decision.

At Reef Network every value is tied to a source. Where sources disagree we name both and we do not decide for the reader. Species names come from WoRMS, the world register of marine species, and the conservation status comes from the most recent IUCN Red List assessment. Information that has gone out of date does not stay on the page.

How Do We Work?

The four rules below apply to every article and every species page in the same way.

We Show Our Sources

Every technical statement is tied to an academic publication, an institutional record or a manufacturer's technical document. Where none of these exists we use aquarium publications, and we mark that in the references. Sales pages do not count as sources.

We Use the Current Record

Species names and conservation status come from the latest record. When the record changes, the page changes with it.

Advertising Cannot Buy an Opinion

An affiliate link or a sponsorship does not change an assessment. The detail is in the Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure.

We Credit Other People's Work

Photographs and articles that are not ours are published with the owner's permission, name and link. If the owner asks, we take them down the same day.

Toygar Niron

Founder and editor

Toygar Niron set up his first saltwater aquarium in 2012 and has been writing about what he learns since 2020. Water chemistry, coral and fish care, equipment choice, system setup; he tried all of it in his own aquarium first, and some of it he had to redo more than once. He has bred the Banggai cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) in his aquarium and gave the young fish he raised, along with the frags he propagated from his corals, to other hobbyists. He is a certified diver, so some of the species he writes about he has seen not behind aquarium glass but in their own habitat.

Where we came from: Reef Network launched on 1 January 2026. Behind it is Nakvaryum, an aquarium community publishing since 1 April 2020. Articles from Nakvaryum are rewritten and moved here.

Reef Network is a brand of Deepline Digital LLC. Full details are in the Legal Notice.
